The Secret to Search Engine Domination
August 20, 2013 by Tim Priebe
For years, when clients have asked me to help them improve their search engine rankings, I have told them there are no guarantees. And while strictly speaking, that’s true, there’s a method we’ve been recommending to clients for the last few years that has consistently made them appear more often in search engines, with better rankings than they had before.
So what’s the secret?
You need Search Engine Domination.
If you’ve heard the term, “Search Engine Optimization,” or SEO for short, the term “Search Engine Domination” may be new to you. I define Search Engine Domination to be showing up multiple times for the relevant search terms people enter in.
See, in websites like Google, Bing, and Yahoo!, your actual website will typically only show up once or twice for a particular search phrase. Traditional SEO is all about increasing that ranking, moving your site up in the listing.
But why settle for just one or two entries in the result, when you can have more? That’s Search Engine Domination.
The real secret, then, is how to actually get it!
So here it is. It’s simple, but takes dedication. If you want Search Engine Domination, you need a presence on the major social networks, and you need to post updates on a regular basis.
You should have some sort of presence on the following social networks:
- Google+ (This one is a must!)
Of course, make sure that all your social media accounts, pages, and profiles link back to your main website.
And not only should you have a presence, but you need to make sure you’re pushing out updates on a regular basis. There’s no magic formula, but the minimum we find is effective is every other day. The maximum we find most small and medium size organizations can handle is a couple times a day.
Although you’ll be pushing out updates for Search Engine Domination, remember that people will ultimately be who reads them. So don’t be purely promotional! Remember to balance three things, represented by the acronym P.I.E.
Too promotional, and you’ll turn people off. Too informational, and you’ll bore people. Too entertaining, and people may never buy anything from you.
So why don’t more people do this? Simply put, it takes time, dedication, and self-discipline to keep pushing out updates day after day, week after week, month after month.
