Which email address seems most professional?

Question?

I need your help! For years I’ve been advising people on the professionalism of various internet-related topics. On this one, I’d like some data to back up what has previously just been my opinion.

If you could answer the following question honestly, it would be greatly appreciated.

Which email address seems most professional?

  • info@xyzincorporated.com (93.0%, 54 Votes)
  • xyzincorporated@aol.com (3.0%, 2 Votes)
  • xyzincorporated@yahoo.com (2.0%, 1 Votes)
  • xyzincorporated@gmail.com (2.0%, 1 Votes)
  • xyzincorporated@cox.net (0.0%, 0 Votes)

Total Voters: 58

  1. You probably already know this, but the reason I feel that an info@ address seems more professional is becuase it tells me that you also have a website set up. Most chamber members, I have found, who have a yahoo or gmail address, do not have a website.

  2. Yes, I voted for the “info” one but it’s the one I least like to respond to even if it looks more professional!

  3. Voted the info@xyzincorporated.com, because it is the most professional. It shows the business name, it can show the person’s name and as stated by Jessie, it shows there is a website.

However, I have seen some business emails that could only be accessed at the place of business and prevented checking email outside of work. With that said, I think it is also acceptable to use an xyz@gmail.com or xyz@cox.net (not biased… really) for their ease of access over the internet. AOL and Yahoo have never been marketed as reliable email alternatives and are on my list of No No email addresses.

  4. Anybody can get a free account but having the company name after @ tells me you probably put some money into it - which indicates you are more likely to be serious about your purpose.

  5. Yeah it’s a great stuff and I am sure I will get some information that I can use it as reference purpose.
